Hi,

Just wondering if there are any plans in the pipeline to allow users to view open rates for email campaigns sent through the LMS?

It would be really helpful to understand engagement levels with our communications and adjust our messaging accordingly. If this is something already on the roadmap (or available in a way I’ve missed!),

Not available yet, but this is planned! When we first planned it open rate tracking was still a mess and inaccurate in the industry as a whole from Apple's privacy updates so we put it off.

Thanks again for your reply.

I just wanted to share a bit more context that might be helpful. Most of our learners are using their workplace email addresses, and while I don’t have visibility into bounce rates, I know of at least a few cases where emails are no longer reaching people due to company closures or individuals moving on.

I’ve attached a screenshot from Coursera, which prompts users to add a personal email address to maintain access if they leave their organisation, which I thought was really interesting and hadn't come across before. Height’s LMS only supports one email address (which learners can change), but in practice they rarely do, so it’s difficult to keep communication channels open over time.

Even a basic view of open rates would help flag potential disengagement or delivery issues earlier on. I completely understand the privacy challenges, but any level of insight would be really useful, so it's great that it's in the pipeline. Adding a disclaimer as other providers do covers the level of accuracy issue.

Thank you Catherine, that is helpful! We are looking into display active subscriber counts both for email campaigns and community notifications in the near future which should help you understand this data better in Heights as well.

I can tell you in regards to bounced emails, we automatically stop sending to email addresses that hard bounce to protect your deliverability.

It sounds like in your case you might also want to be able to see a list of students who have been unsubscribed or bounced?

Thanks!

Good to hear that you "automatically stop sending to email addresses that hard bounce to protect deliverability".

I'll give you an example of what I do when I know people have either moved jobs or a company has closed down. In both cases, I reach out to them on LinkedIn and let them know they can change the email address associated with their account. Not many do this, but a small number do, so I've found it's worth a try. I do this because I want to keep people engaged in a very important, relevant, and current topic. Whether they feel the same is another matter, but being able to bring a few people back is worthwhile.

Unsubscribed, while useful to know, is less important because that person has chosen to disengage. Therefore, I wouldn't necessarily take action based on this information. However, we would still get a rough idea of how many people are receiving our messages.
